Non hanno tardato ad arrivare tantissimi omaggi alla sua morte, tra cui in primis quelli di Matthew Modine e Vincent D’Onofrio, rispettivamente Joker e Palla di Lardo nel film del 1987 di Kubrick Full Metal Jacket nel quale hanno recitato insieme al Sergente che ha reso le loro vite nel campo di addestramento Marines un vero inferno.
